A new exiting MMORPG joined the fray, its called The Lord of the Rings: Shadows of Angmar. Not only will you see the characters from the movie youll also go on your own adventures and have fun with friends. I think any fan of the trilogy or MMOS will be impressed with Turbines latest game.
You can chose from four races in Lord of the Rings. There are the sturdy dwarves; skilled with melee theyre best for a tank or another offensive class. You also have the option of a majestic long-lived elf, while skilled with magic; they are also formidable with a bow. There are those peace-loving hobbits, the smallest of the available races and well suited for a healer or stealthy character. Ever the Jack-of-all-trades, Humans are skilled with everything but not quite the aces.
First you must pick your class, what you will specialize in when you enter middle earth. The options are the Guardian, a tank, Champions, fast hitting damage dealers. Maybe the Hunter, agile trap setting fellows skilled with their bow, Minstrels, they use music to heal and buff their allies. You may even take a fancy to a burglar; stealth rouge that can creep undetected and attacks with quick combos. A Lore master uses magic to heal and buff allies, while doing other offensive things like shooting fireballs and blinding enemies so your team will have the upper hand, he can also call a pet to his aid in battle. Or the captain, he summons a banner man to buff his allies and him while doing so himself he can also attack with melee weapons. But you cant mix and match to your harts content with races and classes. The elf can only be a minstrel, a lore-master, a hunter, a champion, or a guardian. Hobbits have the options of Burglar, Guardian, Hunter, and Minstrel. As a Dwarf you can play as a Champion, a Guardian, a Hunter, or a Minstrel. Humans take the cake as jack-of-all-trades with the ability to play as all classes and they are the only races that can be captains'.
After you make youre character, youll be put into the beginning instance, and even after that youll still have to play threw an intro world ware you can see other players who still havent done the short quest line to leave the area (Humans are yet again the only race who can skip this) which is easy enough. After this you will be put in your starting area according to youre race and you can have at the full game world on your lonesome.
Anyone whos played an MMORPG knows that PvP is a very important factor, in Lord of the rings online, theres something we like to call PvMP, Player Versus Monster Player. A monster player is a player Level 10 or above who goes to a Fel Scrying pool, creates, and plays as a monster. You have the option of playing as a Warg, a Spider, an Urkia, or an Orc. Urkia have two class choices, a healer or an archer, so that divides them up into a total of five classes. Orc are tanks, Wargs are stealthy as are spiders. However if you want to be a good guy you have to be level forty or up. The monster players are supposedly all 50s but 45s can take them pretty easy.
From Thorins hall nestled in the Blue Mountains to Rivindel way down the old east road, there are great sites to see and dark corners to explore. There are places like Bree, the most lagy place in the game, or Rivindel, the wonderful Elvin city with all its pretty places and waterfalls and expensive Boos. Its easy to see why Elves never bother doing anything but marry making and singing. Then there are the misty mountains and other cities. But you cant yet go to Gondor or Rohan.
Over all I liked the graphics, the feel that your in a story almost, and the fact youre playing Lord of the rings, Id say I liked it for its general impressive-ness and the fact your not relying on quests for XP.
Sincerely,
